The Well in the Wilderness
Today's Verse
“From there they continued to Beer; that is the well of which the Lord said to Moses, 'Gather the people together, and I will give them water.' Then Israel sang this song 'Spring up, O well! Sing to it! the well that the leaders sank, that the nobles of the people dug, with the scepter, with the staff.' And from the wilderness to Mattanah” Numbers 21:16–18
The well has great similarities with God himself. We need to understand that water is a huge necessity in the wilderness. Lack of water can cause dehydration and eventually death. The well in the wilderness provides hope for those who are traveling. It also brings satisfaction for it quenches our thirst. The well in the wilderness is remarkably unending. Remember Jesus when he asked the Samaritan woman to draw water from the well? That was Jacob’s well. That means the well lasted for hundreds of years and it still has more water. This reminds us that God is like the well. He is our only hope, the one that can truly satisfy us, and His provisions are unending just like the water in the well.
